Happy New Year!
Tonight I really wish I could be two places at once— in middle-of-nowhere Utah with my Corvallis friends and in Texas with my ATX friends. Since all the snow kept Jeff and me from getting to Utah this year, I’ll be happy to spend the last of 2008 with my wonderful Austin friends at Grant’s house, dressing up and drinking champagne and toasting the new year. I hope everyone has...

Polvo's
I’m on my way to my favorite South Austin gem, Polvo’s, and I could not be more excited. Oregon has no idea how to produce good Tex-Mex, and Polvo’s is what I crave whenever I get bad imitation Mexican food in the Northwest. Delicious food and all my Austin girlfriends, here I come! Polvo’s
My amazing new Christmas present
My big Christmas present this year was this incredible Canon Rebel XS camera. I can’t wait to spend hours going through the manual and figuring out all the cool things I can do with it. I’ve been wanting a Digital SLR for a while now so that I can continue to pursue my hobby of photography and I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to use it now! Thanks so much, Mama Bet!
I'll be home for Christmas... You can count on me!
Well, after days and days of headache, Jeff and I actually made it back to Texas on Christmas. We went straight to the McCarty house for dinner and Christmas there, and I look forward to “Christmas” with my family first thing tomorrow morning. Also, a night in Austin would not be complete without a trip down to the Saxon Pub to see Monte Montgomery. It was the perfect “Welcome...
Happy Christmas!
This is pretty cool, although someone had way too much time on their hands to figure this out… http://www.akqa.com/happychristmas
Jeff and I are trying to re-pack before we leave for the airport again tonight. Sadie is not too happy with it. I guess Jeff isn’t taking his backpack anymore! Sadie has staked her claim!
Thinking of Melbourne at Xmas...
These are all photos from Christmas 2006 in Melbourne. I miss the beautiful decorations at the Bourke St. Mall and the giant tree on Swanston Street. Good memories!
Merry Christmas Eve (from Corvallis)!
here
I wish we were in Johnson City tonight, looking at all the beautiful Christmas displays they have in the Hill Country. Since we can’t be there, Jeff and I drove around Corvallis tonight listening to Christmas tunes and looking for lights. For the most part, not very many people put out lights but there was one awesome display on Peoria Rd. outside of town. It still doesn’t really...
Too much time on my hands
A snow joke for this snowy day: here
Practice random acts of kindness
Today Jeff and I were walking with 7 suitcases (4 backpacks, a suitcase, 2 duffel bags, and a purse actually) through knee-deep snow to the airport shuttle station a mile away. I’m sure we looked completely hopeless and because of that, a nice guy our age stopped in his truck and gave us a lift, not only to the station but all the way to the airport! He dropped us off at a hotel near the...

To brighten the mood:
This always makes me smile, so I’m going to stop complaining about the travel for a bit and focus on the funny cats:
I feel your pain, buddy...
It’s 24 degrees right now and snowing. I feel for this little guy. via
Snowed In
Well, it looks like the weather might have ruined our Christmas plans this year. It just won’t stop snowing in Portland! And Southwest Airlines is not putting planes up in the air because of it. We’re trying everything we can to make it home by Christmas, but I’m not sure if it will happen. Think of us while we’re up here stuck in the snow! image here
Bummer...
We keep checking the weather reports and it looks like we probably aren’t making it back to Texas tomorrow as planned. All the morning flights are cancelled and they keep canceling more by the minute. Plus, the HUT shuttle that takes us up to Portland might not even run tomorrow. Keep your fingers crossed for us… I really want to make it home!!
New blanket and pillow!!
I just got my first Christmas present of the year and I’m so excited about it! My wonderful Boss Lady just gave me the David Fussenegger bamboo/cotton blend throw blanket I’ve been lusting after and the matching pillow!! Mine is the cream/tan combo below. Thanks so much Robin! I’m laying under it now and I love it!!here
I'm definitely in the first category of travelers....

Miles For Miracles
My friend Georgia is running the Boston Marathon this year (for the 3rd time!) and this time she’s doing it for a great cause. She’s raising money with a program called “Miles for Miracles” in support of the Children’s Hospital of Boston. If you or anyone you know would like to help support Georgia’s cause or find out more about Miles For Miracles, please...

Natalie Imbruglia "Torn" done in mime
Jeff and I saw this live on TV in Australia during the 2006 ARIA awards. Every time I hear “Torn” on the radio now (which isn’t often but it happened yesterday), I always think of this! The mime is named Johan Lippowitz (aka David Armand) and he’s pretty darn popular Down Under.
Waiting for Christmas...

Top 10 Most Ridiculous Items in SkyMall Magazine
I read SkyMall every time I’m on the airplane so that I can laugh at the asinine inventions. This list is a funny idea, but I don’t think it includes some of the most hilarious ones. When I fly home for Christmas I might have to make my own Top 10 List. The Best/Worst of SkyMall 2008

If only my friend Judith still had her classic 90’s bangs, I’d totally have bought this for her Xmas present. Here

It’s snowing outside, so we all better bundle up like these guys! Here
“Whenever I get gloomy with the state of the world, I think about the arrivals gate at Heathrow Airport. General opinion’s starting to make out that we live in a world of hatred and greed, but I don’t see that. It seems to me that love is everywhere. Often it’s not particularly dignified or newsworthy, but it’s always there— fathers and sons, mothers and...
This blew my mind
I recommend watching this with the sound off, but it’s definitely worth watching. It was simultaneously fascinating and terrifying.
Wonder Woman Comparison
I found this website where you can put your own head in a million different scenarios. I decided to compare myself as Lynda Carter’s Wonder Woman vs. my Halloween costume self this year. I never got a full-body shot of my Wonder Woman costume, but here’s one with Jeff (as Superman) flying through the shot. Too bad he forgot his red cape at home. And you can’t see my cool gold...
Love Actually
I’m excited to get off work today so I can cozy up in bed and watch my favorite holiday movie, Love Actually. It sounds so ideal to watch this under the covers while it snows outside of my window. I can’t wait! Images Here
I hate pan flutes!
There is a troupe of pan flute players parked outside the Starbucks across the street. I have the music BLARING inside the store to try and drown them out, but I can still hear the tink-er-link-er-ing of their stupid flutes and I’m going crazy! There are few things I find more grating to the ears than pan flutes. Kenny G, Josh Groban, and pan flutes all have the same effect on me. Now...

I'm getting so excited for:
I’m heading home for Christmas in about a week and I’m getting so excited! There are a million things to do while I’m home and not enough time, but I will for sure be going to the Trail of Lights and eating breakfast tacos every day if I can help it! I’m also looking forward to stocking up on as much Mexican food and barbeque as possible and seeing my amazing friends and...

"Keep Christmas With You"
This is one of my favorite Christmas songs of all time, from the original 1978 Sesame Street Christmas special. I watch this special every single year on a worn out VHS! I don’t think they air it on PBS anymore though, probably not just because of the outdated outfits, but because no one would know who people like Mr. Hooper or Bob are anymore! In any case, I love this so I hope you enjoy...
