News that might actually be more interesting than...
Kellogg’s is currently testing out shorter and wider cereal boxes in an effort to meet demands for more space-saving cereal packaging.  The new cereal boxes would potentially be the biggest change to the Kellogg’s brand packaging since the 1950’s, and would also be considered more “green” by using 8% less material.  More info here I, for one, LOVE this idea.  If you...

Austin, Texas in the news
“Austin drivers making their morning commute were in for a surprise when two road signs on a busy stretch of road were taken over by hackers. The signs near the intersection of Lamar and Martin Luther King boulevards usually warn drivers about upcoming construction, but Monday morning they warned of ‘zombies ahead.’” Full article here.

Go Beavs!!
I didn’t want to post anything until after the game (I’d hate to jinx things!) but Oregon State played U of O tonight in the men’s basketball Civil War showdown.  And Oregon State won!!  It was absolutely incredible to be in the midst of over 10,000 fans at Gill Coliseum to cheer on the Beavs.  We had fantastic seats (middle of the court, Row 3 in the student section) and it made...

#11 OSU vs. #2 Utah (Women's Gymnastics)
Tonight at Gill Coliseum, the OSU women’s gymnastics team take on #2 Utah for what I expect to be a very tough competition.  The meet starts at 7:00 p.m.  Info here.

Friendly Fires ‘Skeleton Boy’ by Clemens Habicht from Nexus Productions on Vimeo. Does anyone watch music videos anymore?  Are they going to become obsolete soon?  Even MTV doesn’t play them anymore, but there’s still something very cool about seeing songs you like conceptualized in a vid.  This is the first music video that has caught my attention for quite some time now.

Hat trick
I just read an article that people are trying to get Aretha Franklin’s Inaugural Celebration hat put in the Smithsonian museum.  I can’t believe that people are still obsessing over it!!  It was a hat.  It was a big, statement, church-lady hat, but it was just a hat, people!  And to be honest, I kind of loved it.  Now leave the hat alone already.  image via

Tick Tock Tick Tock
Do you ever wake up from dreaming about the most unusual things?  For some reason, these original Kit Cat Clocks were everywhere I went in my dreams last night.  The black one in particular was everywhere.  It’s strange what your mind drums up sometimes.   via

Awesome old ladies
It’s no secret to those that know me that I LOVE little old men. I had an incredible grandpa that made a lasting impression on me, and therefore I’ve always had a weak spot for old fellas. These ladies are good competition for the men though. The first video is pretty incredible. It’s an 87 year old woman- seriously. Fast forward to around the 2:00 mark for the good stuff! ...

New Jonathan Adler items (preview)
I love the fun, bright colors in the pillow designs, and the adorable new ceramic salt and pepper shakers in penguins and whales!  I’ve been really disappointed by most of the Spring previews I’ve seen so far this year, but Jonathan Adler is always spot-on.  I think everyone should have a little of his bright colors and whimsy in their lives in the midst of this doom-and-gloom...

My new frames!
I got my glasses in yesterday, and I really love them!  My MacBook cam doesn’t really do them justice (lots of glare) but here’s the basic idea.  They’re brown with a swipe of aqua blue on the top.  Now I just have to get used to seeing myself in glasses!

Sad news
It was announced today that both Domino magazine and Domino’s website are being shut down.  The magazine will run one last issue (March) before folding.   Although it’s been apparent that the magazine has been slipping lately in terms of appeal and content, I was still hopeful that Domino would hang on.  I wonder if other Conde Nast publications are soon to follow suit?

I need your HELP!
So I think I’ve already mentioned that my dear, wonderful friend Kaci is getting married, but have I mentioned that I’m in the wedding?  She is having a whopping THIRTEEN bridesmaids in her October wedding, but luckily we all get to pick our own dresses.  I just need to get a brown dress in any style and I figured I’d start looking as soon as possible.  I want something I can...

Duck Tales
Well I have to say, this is a pretty cute clip.  Although in 4th grade, my class had 2 pet ducklings and they were the filthiest, foulest animals ever and have made me more-or-less hate birds since.  Maybe Frank would change my mind about ducks.  He seems pretty cool.

Take me away!
Nearly a year ago, Mom and I went to Tahiti and had one of the best vacations we’ve ever had.  This photo above (via) looks so idyllic and reminds me of our time in Tahiti.  Those little boat houses are so inviting!   For comparison, here are some pics of our over-water bungalows in Tahiti from our trip last year:

Corvallis Culinary Week, Round 3
Let’s wrap this up, shall we?   Our final stop on our tour of Corvallis eateries led me to Magenta last night.  I had only been to Magenta once before and left that time thinking it was overpriced with bad service.  This time, with the awesome Culinary Week deal, I wasn’t concerned with the price but the service was definitely still lacking— even in a packed house on a Saturday...

I can’t believe that this is what I’m doing on a Saturday night, but somehow I’ve been convinced to watch the Miss America pageant tonight with all the girls, along with some chocolate fondue and champagne.  I expect a lot of girly fun.  Tiaras, sequins, fake tans, hairspray, and vaseline on teeth, here I come!!

Coca Cola through the ages
I like the small glass bottles best, just like my grandpa used to keep out on his back porch.  Sometimes we’d stick a couple in the back fridge and they’d get so cold the soda would start forming ice at the top.  It was SO good— almost like a Coke Slurpee!  link

Corvallis Culinary Week, Round 2 update
Last night we enjoyed our 2nd evening of yummy foods at Big River Restaurant.  Although originally we made reservations there for Corvallis Culinary Week, we quickly realized when we arrived that Big River was not participating.  Oops!  Since everywhere else in town was booked, however, we decided to stay and just make the most of our night out.  The service was lacking, but the food was...
